Penstemon barbatus is a strong, long-lived, cold-hardy beard tongue. Rock Candy ‘Ruby’ offers tidy clumps of green, lance-shaped foliage topped with upright spikes of deep pink, tubular flowers with white markings. Plants will grow to 12-18 inches tall and wide. Trim lightly after the first flush of flowers to encourage reblooming in late summer. Use at the front of the border, in mass plantings, in rock gardens, and as a cut flower. Drought tolerant once established. Attracts hummingbirds and bees. Deer resistant.
