Paris quadrifolia

Paris quadrifolia has a whorl of four leaves and a flower with green sepals subtending thin green petals, yellow stamens and a black ovary all followed by a single blue berry.

Paris quadrifolia is a lovely Trillium relative from the Himalayas, Western China, and southeast Asia. The stem is circled by a whorl of four bright green leaves which is echoed by the flower with its own whorl of four green bracts subtending threadlike green petals, yellow stamens and a black ovary. The flower produces a single, long-lasting, blue berry that looks like a blueberry but is inedible. Plants are rhizomatous forming nice colonies fairly quickly. Hardy to zone 5b.
