Paris polyphylla

Paris polyphylla is an exquisite Asian trillium relative. A choice specimen for the shade garden.

Perhaps more than any other perennial, this rare woodland treasure earns the right to be called exquisite. Paris polyphylla is a Trillium relative from the Himalayas, Western China, and southeast Asia. The stem is circled by a single whorl of glossy, green leaves which is echoed by the flower with its own whorl of green bracts subtending threadlike yellow-green petals, golden stamens, and a purple ovary. Part shade in rich soil. Can take a year off after planting and not emerge till the next year. Hardy to zone 5b.
