Panicum virgatum ‘Hot Rod’ is a medium-sized switch grass with strongly upright, blue-green foliage that quickly turns to burgundy-red as the sun heats up in summer. Colours begin to deepen earlier than other cultivars and become richer and richer as the season progresses until the whole plant is burgundy. Airy flowers are pretty held in a cloud above the foliage.
