Paeonia x suffruticosa Chinese ‘Wu Long Peng Sheng’
Paeonia x suffruticosa 'Wu Long Peng Sheng' is a tree peony with large, double, dark pink flowers and yellow stamens.

Paeonia x suffruticosa or tree peonies are beloved garden plants in both Western and Asian horticultural traditions though the history of cultivation in China dates back thousands of years and in Japan to about a thousand years embedding this plant in their rich traditions and cultures. Tree peonies are woody shrubs that produce large, gorgeous flowers in spring in a much wider range of colours than the herbaceous garden peonies. ‘Wu Long Peng Sheng’, also known as Black Dragon Holds a Splendid Flower, has large, fragrant, double dark pink flowers with yellow stamens. It is a Chinese Central Plains cultivar. Provide good soil drainage. In zone 4 (and perhaps 5 to be safe), wrap to protect from cold temperatures, winter desiccation, and freeze-thaw cycles.
