Paeonia lactiflora ‘Early Scout’ is a very early blooming single cultivar that kicks off the peony bloom period each year flowering at the same time as the late tulips! The single cup-shaped flowers are dark red holding a central mass of bright yellow stamens. The foliage is dark green and finely cut. ‘Early Scout’ won a gold medal in 2001 from the American Peony Society.
