Paeonia Itoh ‘Watermelon Wine’
Paeonia 'Watermelon Wine' has semi-double red flowers with yellow centres. Itohs are exciting crosses between tree and garden peonies.
Paeonia ‘Watermelon Wine’ has semi-double flowers in cutting edge tones of dark raspberry-pink, reminiscent of that first watermelon of the season, around pretty yellow stamens. Grows 30-36 inches high and wide. Itoh peonies are intersectional hybrids between tree peonies (P. suffruticosa) and garden peonies (P. lactiflora) making outstanding herbaceous perennials with huge flowers in many unusual colours. A mature plant can have over 50 blooms! The foliage is like a tree peony and emerges rich red, gradually turning green.
