Origanum ‘Amethyst Falls’

Origanum 'Amethyst Falls' is an ornamental oregano with cool shrimp-like pink and amethyst flowers.

‘Amethyst Falls’ is a lovely ornamental (rather than culinary) oregano that blooms with masses of hop-like clusters of purplish pink flowers that emerge from chartreuse bracts. As the blossoms mature the bracts turn a striking mauve. The lightly scented foliage is a similar shape to the flower bracts and is bluish green. Easy to grow in average to dry, well-drained soils in full sun. Superior winter drainage is the key to growing this plant well. Drought tolerant. Plant in borders, rock walls, hanging baskets or containers.
