Opuntia ‘Red Gem’

Opuntia 'Red Gem' has small, round, 2-3 inch wide pads with short spines and deep pink to magenta flowers.

Opuntia ‘Red Gem’ is a collection of Kelly Grummons and a possible hybrid of O. basilaris or O. aurea with O. fragilis. It has small, round, 2-3 inch wide pads that can break off easily and very short spines. It produces large numbers of deep pink to magenta flowers. Plant in full sun in sharply draining soil.
