Opuntia polyacantha (x rutila) Red/Black Spines
This red/black spines selection of Opuntia is a beautiful form with red & black spines on 3" long pads.

This red/black spines selection is an old Claude Barr collection often listed as Opuntia x rutila, a hybrid of O. polyacantha and O. fragilis., or it could be straight O. polyacantha. What’s important here is that it is a beautiful form with red and black spines on three inch long pads. The flowers are yellow aging to apricot.Plant in full sun in sharply draining soil.
