Olea europaea ‘Picholine’
Olea europaea 'Picholine' is the most widely available cultivar in France used for cocktail olives and olive oil.
Olea europaea ‘Picholine’ is grown in the south of France and is the most widely available cultivar in that country. It produces medium sized, green olives with a mild, nutty flavour and is a popular cocktail olive. Fruit can also be left to turn black and used to make a fruity olive oil with a hint of bitterness. Partially self fertile, it will produce more fruit in the presence of another olive cultivar. Plants are medium sized and adaptable to a range of growing conditions. Photo: Wikipedia.
