Olea europaea Harvest Joy (‘Kolholznitsa’) is from the Nikita Botanic Garden in the Ukraine. It produces abundant crops of large, flavourful fruit that can be used to produce green or black olives or a flavourful olive oil. The presence of a different olive cultivar for pollination is likely required. Olives can be hardy in coastal BC in protected locations with excellent drainage. They will benefit from mulching and added protection in cold snaps. Elsewhere they make easy and beautiful container specimens and houseplants or greenhouse plants in winter. Provide as much heat and sun as possible in summer.
