Musella lasiocarpa
Musella lasiocarpa, the golden lotus banana, is an ornamental with large, blue-green leaves dramatic flowers.
Musella lasiocarpa, commonly known as Chinese yellow banana or golden lotus banana, is a relative of the true bananas. It is extremely hardy down to zone 7a and grows as a dwarf, suckering plant with many green to blue-green paddle shaped leaves. When a trunk is mature, it produces an large, dramatic, star-shaped cluster of bright yellow bracts which protect the yellow tubular flowers. This species is non-fruiting but has wonderful foliage and flowers and stays at a nicely manageable size. Adds a touch of botanical intrigue and tropical flare to the garden, patio and container.
