Magnolia x wieseneri 'Aashild Kalleberg' is a floriferous, early summer-bloomer with large, fragrant, cupped flowers.

Magnolia x wieseneri ‘Aashild Kalleberg’ is a floriferous, early summer-blooming cultivar with spherical buds opening to upward-facing, beautifully cupped, strongly fragrant flowers up to 6-10 inches across with bold red anthers. It has leathery, bright green leaves up to 8-16 inches long with bluish undersides. ‘Aashild Kalleberg’ is a more compact form of the hybrid that grows as single-stemmed tree with very symmetrical branching. It is an open polllinated cross of Magnolia obovata and M. sieboldii discovered at the Gothenburg Botanic Garden, Sweden. Most likely hardy to zone 5 but plant in a warmer microclimate. For the 2025 Rare Flowering Tree Pre-Order plants will be in 1g pots and about 1-2 feet tall.
