Magnolia ‘Elizabeth’
'Elizabeth' is a hybrid Magnolia with beautiful, large, cup-shaped, fragrant yellow flowers on a deciduous, upright, columnar form.
‘Elizabeth’ is an award-winning, deciduous hybrid magnolia cross of M. acuminata and M. denudata. Masses of large, cup-shaped, soft yellow, lightly fragrant flowers up to 6 inches across usher in spring, even on young plants. Flowers can last up to four weeks and gradually fade to cream as they age. Obovate, eight inch long foliage emerges bronze in colour, maturing to dark green. One of the best yellow flowering magnolias offering breathtaking beauty with an upright, columnar shape 20-30 feet tall and 12-20 feet wide. It also provides lovely winter interest with smooth gray bark and furry buds. Site in a sheltered spot from cold, dry winds to protect buds and flowers. For the 2024 Rare Flowering Tree Pre-Order plants will be in 1g pots and about 3 feet tall.
