Lycium barbarum ‘Firecracker’
Lycium barbarum 'Firecracker' produces its goji berries earlier than 'Dynamite' and is likely hardier.
Lycium barbarum ‘Firecracker’ is an early-fruiting variety ripening before ‘Dynamite’ and said to be hardier. Most gojis are classed as zone 5 but some reports suggest ‘Firecracker’ can grow in zone 3. The tiny purple flowers are fragrant and self-fertile followed by the bright red fruit held on mounding plants. Gojis are touted as a super food packed with vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. They can be eaten fresh or dried or used in baking.
