Loropetalum chinense var. rubrum ‘Ryokko’

Loropetalum chinense ‘Ryokko’ is a vigorous, green-leaved cultivar hot magenta-pink flowers.

Loropetalum chinense is known as Chinese witch hazel or fringe flower. It is a beautiful semi-evergreen to evergreen shrub with long-blooming, fragrant, spidery, fringed flowers in white and shades of pink. ‘Ryokko’ is a vigorous, green-leaved cultivar with spreading, graceful, arching branches. The leaves emerge with a hint of burgundy. Its hot magenta-pink flowers bloom profusely in spring and sporadically throughout the growing season. Grow in containers and protect in winter or, in coastal BC, plant in well-drained soils in a protected location. Can be popular with hummingbirds. Tolerant of dry soils once established.
