Lagerstoemia Barista ‘Dark Roast’ has rich, glossy, deep burgundy leaves with red undertones topped in late summer with fuchsia pink flowers which makes a bold foliage and flower contrast. The Barista Collection of crape myrtles are hardy cultivars to zone 6. Where they have been tested in Michigan they die back to the ground in winter and bloom on new wood in late summer. On the west coast they will not die back but they will need to be planted in a hot spot to bring them into flower.
