Kalmia latifolia ‘Elf’ is a dwarf cultivar to 2-3 feet tall with pale pink buds opening to pale pink to pure white flowers. Mountain laurels are a Rhododendron-like shrub with dark green, evergreen foliage and jewel-like clusters of small, cupped, usually multicoloured flowers. The different colour combinations in white, pink, red, and burgundy are often bold and striking. With time, Kalmia usually develop a more open, architectural form versus the “round green blob” of Rhodos. Attractive to bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds. Deer resistant.
