‘About Town’ offers lush bitones from silvery mauve in the standards to ravishing velvety deep purple flushed with burgundy in the falls which echo the lighter colour of the standards in the ruffled, lacey edges. Blooms in the early to mid season. Each well-branched stem produces 8-10 fragrant flowers. Tall Bearded (TB) irises, previously known as Iris germanica, have greyish strap-like, pointed leaves from fleshy rhizomes and tall stems of gorgeous, often fragrant, flowers that come in every colour of the rainbow. Divide every two to three years (or when clumps become congested and flowering decreases) just after blooming. Trim the foliage back to a third and plant the rhizomes at or just below soil level. Deer and rabbit resistant.
