Hydrangea arborescens ‘Annabelle’ is the classic white mophead. It has large white heads of pure white florets that age to green with time. The foliage is thick and blue-green and the plants bushy and upright. The arborescens group is native to North America. It is exceptionally hardy and easy going but like other hydrangeas requires good moisture to thrive in full sun. Foliage turns yellow in fall. Plants bloom on new wood so plants can be trimmed back to the ground in winter.
