Hippeastrelia ‘Durga Pradhan’

xHippeastrelia 'Durga Pradhan' has fantastic red amaryllis-like flowers. Vigorous and easy to grow.

xHippeastrelia (syn. Hippeastrekelia) is a rare intergeneric hybrid between Hippeastrum (amaryllis) and Sprekelia formosissima (Aztec lily) resulting in a plant with perfectly intermediate characteristics between its two parents. The vigorous ‘Durga Pradhan’ quickly forms a large clump of narrow amaryllis-like foliage. In mid to late spring the one foot tall stalks hoist richly-coloured crimson-red sprekelia-shaped flowers but with broader petals. Full sun in well-drained soil or grow as a pot specimen.
