Gentiana septemfida var. lagodechiana ‘Bella Alpinella’

Gentiana septemfida 'Bella Alpinella' is a low-growing Summer Gentian with masses of sapphire blue flowers from midsummer to early fall

Gentiana septemfida var. lagodechiana ‘Bella Alpinella’ is a summer gentian that is a true blue sensation with bluer flowers and a more compact habit than the species. Tidy, low-growing, compact plants produce upright stems holding a fantastic visual display of masses of trumpet-like, sapphire blue flowers from midsummer to early fall. Deadheading encourages more blooming. Plant in full sun to part shade. Avoid full sun in hot summer climates. Plants appreciate gritty, well-drained, peaty, acidic soil. Good for rock, cottage and informal gardens, borders and beds, near pathways where it can be appreciated, in special containers, and as a small scale ground cover. Attracts hummingbirds and pollinators.
