Ficus carica ‘Panache’ is known as the striped tiger fig. It is a rare novelty with beautiful green and yellow striped fruit. The flesh is sweet and strawberry red. However, it requires A LOT of heat and is very late-ripening. Though hardy in coastal BC, it will likely never ripen before winter but will produce beautiful ornamental fruit through late summer and fall into winter. It can also be grown in a pot and put in a blazing hot location or you can lengthen the season in a greenhouse or sun room to try to ripen the fruit. Either way this is a cool collectible variety!
