Eucryphia x intermedia

Eucryphias are slender, columnar, medium-sized trees from the southern hemisphere. They bloom in August with singularly beautiful, pure white, fragrant, rose-like flowers centred with yellow and orange stamens. Plant with the roots in shade and the tree crown in sun in evenly moist but well-drained soil. There are a number of specimens along the Rhodo walk at VanDusen Botanical Garden. A hybrid between the Chilean E. glutinosa and the Tasmanian E. lucida that occurred by chance in Ireland.
