Eucomis vandermerwei Purple Spotted Leaf (Adult 2023)

Eucomis vandermerwei is a rare species of pineapple lily native to a small area of South Africa. This form has great leaf spotting.

Eucomis vandermerwei is a rare species of pineapple lily native to a small area of South Africa. The narrow green leaves are ruffled and, in this Purple Spotted Leaf form, boldly covered in purple to burgundy spots. The pineapple-like inflorescences have purple to burgundy flowers that top the foliage in late summer. Should be hardy in coastal BC if kept dry when dormant. It also makes a wonderful container specimen in a clay pot and can be protected in winter in colder zones. Our nursery-grown bulbs are adult blooming size as of 2023.
