Eryngium ‘Sapphire Blue’

 

‘Sapphire Blue’ is a hybrid cultivar with an intense, steel blue hue infusing its branched stems, leaves, and teasel-shaped flowers. The flower heads are huge and sit upon dramatic collar-like bracts. Leaves and stems are tinged with blue. This peculiar genus from the carrot family is found around the world but with its centre of diversity in South America. There are also a number of European species.
