Epimedium ‘Amber Queen’ offers evergreen foliage that is bright green with a blush of red across the lance-shaped, spiny-margined leaves. Whimsical, yellow jester hat-like flowers with orange-red centres emerge in spring along the full length of the 24 inch long flower stems. Barrenwort thrive in medium to heavy shade and, when established, are highly drought tolerant – one of the few plants that can thrive in dry shade. They are deer resistant and are seldom bothered by voles and other critters. They can be used as effective ground covers or shade garden accents.
