Dodecatheon meadia ‘Aphrodite’

Dodecatheon 'Aphrodite' is a North American native with reflexed pink petals with yellow and red highlights.

Dodecatheon meadia ‘Aphrodite’ is a superb hybrid selection of this genus of North American wildflowers, the shooting stars. Upright stems rise from a low rosette of rounded leaves producing multiple umbels of downward facing pink flowers with reflexed petals with yellow and red highlights. Tall stems reach 18-20 inches high. Best in rich soil and part shade appreciating moisture in spring and drier soils in summer when plants go dormant and disappear. A native of Manitoba but nowhere else in Canada. Attracts bees. Deer resistant.
