Diervilla x splendens Firefly Nightglow ‘El Madrigal’ is a beautiful, super hardy shrub with lance shaped, burgundy leaves with reddish burgundy undersides and terminal clusters of small, tubular yellow flowers in summer that are popular with bees and butterflies. It is related to the honeysuckles, Lonicera, but is not fragrant. It will grow to about three feet high and wide. Colour intensifies into the fall. Great in shrub borders, in mass plantings, and containers. Tolerant of drought.
