Dahlia ‘Red Empire’ has magnificent dinner plate flowers of cherry-red with ivory white tips up to 8″ wide on 30-36 inch stems. It provides stunning colour in the border, as a container plant, and in the vase with blooms from from mid summer to frost. Dahlia are hardy to coastal BC’s winter temperatures but not to winter wet. Protect from rain in free-draining soils, plant in pots that can be moved and protected, or lift and store in a cool, dry, frost free location. They are moderately deer resistant.
