Cyrtanthus angustifolius Swartberg (Adult 2023)

Cyrtanthus angustifolius, or stream firelily, offers curved and nodding bright red to orange fragrant trumpets.

Cyrtanthus angustifolius is a beautiful South African bulb known as stream firelily. It flowers in spring and summer at 12-18 inches high with 4-10 curved and nodding bright red to orange trumpets with orange interiors and sweet fragrance. It is an amaryllis relative with long, strap-like leaves that grows well as a pot plant. Give deep waterings when in growth and allow to go just short of bone dry when dormant. Keep above freezing in winter. Plant with the neck of the bulb protruding from the soil. Our nursery-grown bulbs are adult blooming size as of 2023. Photo: Wikimedia.
