Cynanchum atratum
Cynanchum atratum has small, dark purple flowers that look like starfish held in clusters at the leaf axils.

If you like milkweeds and oddball plants, Cynanchum atratum is for you. It forms erect stems to nearly two feet tall with opposite, light green leaves with nice veining. The small, dark purple flowers look like starfish and are held in clusters at the leaf axils starting from the middle of the stem to the top. From northern China, Korea, Japan, and adjacent areas of Russia. Hardiness is hard to know but our friend Mona has had it survive in zone 4 Quebec!
