Cornus mas Yellow Fruit

Cornus mas Yellow Fruit is a cold hardy Cornelian cherry with early yellow flowers and tasty yellow fruit.

Cornus mas is a cold hardy dogwood known as Cornelian cherry or cornel that is both ornamental and edible. It blooms with airy clusters of golden flowers on bare branches in early spring followed by early-ripening, sweet, juicy, pear-shaped, aromatic fruit that tastes like a cherry or a wild plum. This form bears large crops of 1.25 inch long, oval-shaped fruit that is yellow rather than red. Trees reach 8-10 feet tall and wide. Fall colour includes yellows and reds. Grow in the sunny to part shade garden. Great for fresh eating, preserves, juice and wine. Plant two varieties for cross-pollination. Attracts birds and bees.
