Cornus kousa var. chinensis

Cornus kousa var. chinensis, the Chinese dogwood, has creamy white spring flowers and spectacular fall foliage.

Cornus kousa var. chinensis is known as the Chinese dogwood. It grows as a vased-shaped large shrub or small tree with four seasons of interest. Spring brings hundreds of creamy, star-like flowers. Summer sees blossoms give way to deep pink, strawberry-like edible fruit which persist into fall. Fall sees green foliage taking on spectacular autumn colours of red, purple, and scarlet. Winter’s interest is that of exfoliating bark. Use as a specimen near patios, and in lawns and borders. The flowers attract butterflies. The fruit attracts birds. For the 2024 Rare Flowering Tree Pre-Order plants will be in 15cm pots and about 2 feet tall.
