Cornus kousa var. chinensis Mandarin Jewel ‘Madi-11’
Cornus Mandarin Jewel has abundant, large, white flowers and bold, edible fruit aging from yellow to bright orange.
Cornus Mandarin Jewel ‘Madi-11’ has abundant, large, white flowers in spring and clean, dark green leaves through summer but it is late summer and autumn when it shines due to the fruit. Normal Chinese dogwood has rosy pink to red, strawberry-like fruit while Mandarin Jewel has fruit that starts bright yellow and ages to glowing orange. Much more visible from a distance putting on a great show it’s like a Buddleia globosa for the late season garden. The fruit is edible. Leaves turn orange-yellow in fall.
