The luscious flowers have rounded bracts in late spring followed by strawberry-like red fruits that are edible but are generally left to the birds. The leaves turn burgundy in autumn. Best grown in organically rich, medium moisture, well-drained soils in full sun to part shade. Some afternoon shade is best in hot summer climates.
