Colocasia gigantea ‘Thailand Giant’

Colocasia Thailand Giant is a taro or elephant ear with gigantic foliage. Buy first, worry about where to put it later!

Colocasia gigantea ‘Thailand Giant’ has HUGE, dramatic, arrow-shaped, green leaves up to six feet long and four feet wide! Full grown, plants typically reach nine feet tall! It can be grown as a marginal plant in ponds or in pots or beds with evenly moist soil. Pleasantly fragrant, yellowish-white spathes and spadixes may appear in summer but are usually hidden by the foliage. Though potentially hardy, it is best brought in as a houseplant for winter. Or the foliage can be sheared off and the rhizome/trunk can be stored in a frost free location until spring. Possibly hardy to zone 7b.
