Among the largest of the autumn crocus, Colchicum macrophyllum has long, pointed petals that are tesselated pale pink on a white background. The lush, green leaves emerge in spring and are up to 16 inches long forming attractive mounds that go dormant in summer. The flowers arise without leaves in late summer or fall. Grow in fertile, well-drained soil. Plant immediately upon receipt. Native to Crete, Rhodes, and southwestern Turkey.
