Clintonia umbellulata is an beautiful yet uncommonly-grown species of the North America’s eastern hardwood forests forming clumps of 2-4 large, rich green, glossy, tongue-like leaves topped in spring by a flowering stalk 1-2 feet tall with a cluster of pure white flowers speckled in green or purple that are followed by shiny, black, inedible berries. Blooms in mid to late spring with fruit forming in summer.
