Clematis ‘Astra Nova’ is a cold-hardy, free-flowering, compact climber that we have imported from Europe that producing multitudes of outward facing, single to semi-double violet-purple flowers with wide white stripes on the narrow petals and violet-purple stamens. The flowers are 3-4 inches wide and bloom on vines 5-9 feet tall. Prune hard in the spring and thereafter to encourage reblooming and to keep tidy. Adorns walls, trellis or obelisk in the garden and patio. Belongs to the Viticella group of clematis. Pruning group C3. Hummingbird and pollinator attractor.
