Citrus-Orange, Sour sulcata ‘Sanbokan’

Citrus sulcata 'Sanbokan' is a rare Japanese citrus with a flavour that is a blend of sweet orange and grapefruit.

Citrus sulcata ‘Sanbokan’ is a rare Japanese citrus that, according to legend, was discovered in the wild in the early 1800s by a samurai who brought it to Wakayama Castle where it was guarded as a prized food flavouring for only those within the castle walls to taste. Today it is a favourite of top chefs to add tartness and richness to dishes. The flavour is a blend of sweet orange and grapefruit. If you’re a foodie, here’s another citrus you have to have! All of our citrus are grafted onto C-35 citrange, trifoliate orange, or other semi-dwarfing rootstock which confer good hardiness and production while reducing overall tree size.
