Citrus-Lime hystrix Thai Makrut – 5×12″ pot

Citrus hystrix is the makrut or thai lime. It produces good crops of small, fragrant fruits. The leaves are widely used in cooking.

Citrus hystrix produces good crops of small, fragrant fruits known as makrut or Thai limes. The leaves are used as much or more than the fruits in Southeast Asian cuisines, especially in Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam, to flavour curries, soups, and other dishes. It’s a wonderful plant to brush past in the garden or to rub the leaves while sitting on your patio. This citrus also used to go by a common name starting with the letter K but this is an ethnic slur in South Africa and should be avoided. All of our citrus are grafted onto C-35 citrange, trifoliate orange, or other semi-dwarfing rootstock which confer good hardiness and production while reducing overall tree size.
