Citrus-Lemon x pyriformis ‘Ponderosa’

Citrus x pyriformis 'Ponderosa' is a hybrid between a lemon and a citron from 1887. It is a great collector's citrus.

Citrus x pyriformis ‘Ponderosa’ is a hybrid between a lemon and a citron. It produces gigantic lemons with a bumpy rind and a fair number of seeds from beautifully fragrant, purple-tinged flowers. The fruit can be rounded or rounded with a somewhat elongated neck and is tart and acidic. A great novelty citrus for collectors that first arose in 1887. Plants can be a bit rangy so prune to maintain shape. All of our citrus are grafted onto C-35 citrange, trifoliate orange, or other semi-dwarfing rootstock which confer good hardiness and production while reducing overall tree size.
