Centaurea ‘Pulchra Major’

Centaurea 'Pulchra Majora' is a cool bachelor's button with dramatic artichoke-like buds and silver foliage.

Centaurea ‘Pulchra Major’ is a dramatic take on an old cottage garden favourite. This bachelor’s button rises to relatively dizzying heights of four feet on strong stems. Large and spectacular artichoke-like buds open to lavender pink flowers arising from papery, tan bracts. The silver foliage is bold and dramatic forming basal mounds about two feet wide that resembles a cardoon. Perfect in the middle of a sunny border. Popular with the pollinators, especially bees.
