Capsicum annuum Mighty Veggie ‘Mellow Star’

Mighty Veggie grafted peppers produce 2-3 times (or more!) fruit than ungrafted plants and are more cold tolerant and disease resistant.

You’ve been ordering the sweet and tasty shishito peppers in restaurants. Now grow your own. ‘Mellow Star’ produces 3-4 inch long, wrinkled, thin-skinned, sweet peppers with a mild flavour. They are usually picked green but you can wait until they turn red for more sweetness. You can use them in stir fires or tempuras but the best is to flash fry them on high heat in olive oil until they blister. Then toss them with coarse sea salt, put in a bowl, and eat with your fingers. Delicious! 70-80 days. Mighty Veggies grafted vegetables are hand grafted onto super strong rootstock which provides greater disease resistance, greater cold tolerance (so veggies start growing faster in the spring), and great yield. Mighty Veggie grafted plants usually produce 2-3 times more fruit than ungrafted plants, a difference that is especially large for heirloom varieties which do not always offer high yields.
