Camellia sinensis ‘Biclonal TS506’
Camellia sinensis 'Biclonal TS506' is a cross of three tea varieties great for making black tea.

Camellia sinensis ‘Biclonal TS506’ is a cross involving var. sinensis, var. assamica and var. cambodiensis from the Tocklai Tea Research Institute in 1994 in India for tea production in the plains of Assam. It has a spreading habit and will tolerate more drought relative to other tea varieties. It has high yield potential and above average cup characteristics for black tea. Harvest or ‘pluck’ tea leaves during the warmer months. Select only the top three newly flushing young leaves from the branch tips. Research which method to use to dry and cure your leaves as this will determine which type of tea you get. Tea camellias becomes multi-branched and can reach 6 feet or more tall and wide in 10 years with profuse shoots to harvest from. Or keep shrubs pruned to any size you like.
