In Japan their leaves are used for tea and the seeds for tea seed oil. Camellias appreciate rich, acidic, moist, well-draining soils. Use in the light shady garden as an accent or specimen plant or in containers and as cut flowers. Somewhat deer resistant. Plant in a protected location in zone 7.
