This is a rare calanthe that flowers in the autumn when the other species are becoming dormant. The flowers have light violet petals set around an elongated purple-violet lip. Virus-free plants from flasked seedlings. Vigorous blooming size plants. Calanthes are hardy terrestrial orchids for classic shade garden conditions. They are relatively easy to grow in rich, well-drained soils in part shade.
