Brunsvigia undulata Underberg (3 yr 2023)
Brunsvigia undulata is an impressive species from grasslands of the Eastern Cape with rich, deep red flowers.
Brunsvigia undulata is an impressive species from grasslands of the Eastern Cape with rich, deep red flowers that can number 35-80 in large umbels that bloom in summer above large, dramatic leaves with wavy margins that can reach nearly two feet long and number up to 15 per bulb. Plant the large bulbs with the neck protruding above the soil. This is a non-hardy bulb that can be grown as a houseplant or in a heated greenhouse or sunroom. It’s perfect for those interested in bulbs and houseplants and for succulent lovers looking to branch out. Our nursery-grown bulbs are 3 years old as of 2023 and can reach blooming size around 6-8 years old. Until then the foliage will be fantastic. Photo: Peter R Warren.
